Consultation Process

Grove Park Academies and TIMU Trust Merger

Recently, Bobbing and Iwade schools (Timu Academy Trust) have shared a period of close working with Grove Park and Aspire schools (Grove Park Academies) due to a significant leadership absence at Grove Park Primary school.  Together we have taken the opportunity to review educational practice, share educational ideas, increase capacity and provide career development opportunities to staff. This informal partnership has enabled both trusts to build relationships across the schools.

The CEO of Grove Park Academies is retiring at the end of this academic year and so Grove Park Primary School and Aspire School are planning a merger with Iwade School and Bobbing school (TIMU Trust) to become one Trust.  This would see the strengths of all four schools coming together to form a strong alliance that offers wider opportunities and an improved local offer to the families and children we serve.

We see this as an exciting opportunity to create something new, including a complete re-branding under a new Trust name while retaining everything that is great about each individual school. We will ensure that each school continues to hold its own identity and culture, so that our families and staff still recognise their school as they know it and for what it provides to their community. But at the same time each school will benefit from being a larger group. Both Trusts have good or better schools, one of which is providing valuable SEND provision through the recently opened Aspire School. Whilst there will be a number of motivating factors to suggest the merger go ahead, the benefits for all pupils remains our central focus.

The government has set out its vision ‘for every school to be part of a family of schools in a strong academy trust’ and as part of plans to build back better from the pandemic they will be investing in strong multi academy trusts.

Our stakeholders are an important part of this process and we will be giving you the opportunity to ask questions, raise any concerns you may have or share views through a consultation exercise.
